Speech-Language Evaluation & Treatment
Evaluation and treatment of a variety of speech and language-related disorders, including, but not limited to:
Articulation
Expressive and receptive language
Cognitive deficits resulting from traumatic brain injury
Voice and resonance difficulties
Tracheostomized/ventilator-dependent patients and determination of candidacy for use of a speaking valve
Social difficulties related to Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, and other diagnoses
Evaluations are comprehensive and in-depth, evaluating the “whole” child, with emphasis on not only objective measures, but subjective observation and parent reporting regarding the impact on the child’s daily life. All evaluations include collaboration with other specialists as needed. Therapy activities and sessions are intended to be functional and relevant to each individual's needs, with a focus on parent/caregiver training and involvement.
Clinical Feeding Evaluation & Treatment
Evaluation and treatment of feeding and swallowing disorders across a variety of patient populations and diagnoses, including:
Prematurity
Cardiac issues
Genetic disorders
Complex GI-related issues
Failure to thrive
Cleft lip/palate
Respiratory-based difficulties/diagnoses
Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
Picky eating (may or may not be related to ASD and/or sensory disorders)
Pre- and post-operative care for patients with history of tethered oral ties (TOTs), including tongue, lip, and buccal
Feeding tube dependence and weaning
We treat both infants and children. Evaluation consists of taking an extensive medical and family history and observing current feeding patterns and issues. This enables us to determine the "big picture" issue(s), develop a holistic and effective treatment plan, and optimize the patient and family feeding experience.
Occupational Therapy Evaluation & Treatment
Evaluation and treatment of a variety of sensory and motor related disorders including, but not limited to:
Autism
Sensory processing challenges
Down Syndrome
Motor planning and coordination difficulties
Developmental delays
Neurological disorders
Self-regulation difficulties (developing independence with coping skills, decreased negative behavioral responses, improve interactions & engagement with peers)
School readiness (handwriting, time management, organizational skills)
Self-help skills (dressing, bathing, hygiene, toothbrushing, toileting routines)
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Feeding (oral motor management, postural control, assessing for core strength, whole body alignment, muscle tone, use of utensils & cups, sensory processing related to textures, tastes, smells, & visual stimuli)
Social challenges
Birth injuries
Comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations are conducted with a family and client-centered approach. Objective/standardized testing measures, subjective observation, and parent reporting are used to evaluate the “whole child” and develop an individualized treatment plan. All evaluations include collaboration with other specialists as needed. Therapy sessions address the area(s) of need for the individual child through fun, play-based activities involving sensory strategies, games, and exercise to enhance skill development and build independence, with a focus on parent/caregiver training and involvement.
